The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.73.55

प्रतिच्छन्द्याद्यदेतस्मादुत्थिता जगदात्मना ।
देहास्तदा यथा बाह्यमन्तरेषां तथा स्थितम् ॥ ५५ ॥

praticchandyādyadetasmādutthitā jagadātmanā |
dehāstadā yathā bāhyamantareṣāṃ tathā sthitam || 55 ||

It is from this universal soul, that all individual bodies have their rise, and according to their sundry desires; and as these differ from one another in their outward shapes, so they are different also in their inward natures and inclinations.
