The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

विद्धि तच्चेतनं जीवं सघनत्वान्मनः स्थितम् ।
एतावति स्थितिजाले न किंचित्साकृति स्थितम् ॥ १४ ॥

viddhi taccetanaṃ jīvaṃ saghanatvānmanaḥ sthitam |
etāvati sthitijāle na kiṃcitsākṛti sthitam || 14 ||

Know this intellection as the jiva or living soul, which being condensed (with feelings &c.) becomes the gross mind; but none of these essences or forms of existence, have any form whatever.
