The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चतुर्दशविधायास्तु भूतजातेर्न कस्यचित् ।
सिध्यत्यभिमतं वस्तु विनाभ्यासमकृत्रिमम् ॥ ४२ ॥

caturdaśavidhāyāstu bhūtajāterna kasyacit |
sidhyatyabhimataṃ vastu vinābhyāsamakṛtrimam || 42 ||

All the fourteen kinds of living beings, have to live by the habit of their respective activities; and it is impossible for any one to get its desired object, without its unfeigned activity.
