The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

परमाकाशकोशान्तरादिसर्गे निरामये ।
पृथ्व्यादेरुपलम्भस्य भवेत्किमिव कारणम् ॥ १० ॥

paramākāśakośāntarādisarge nirāmaye |
pṛthvyāderupalambhasya bhavetkimiva kāraṇam || 10 ||

When creation began and was begotten in the beginning, in its pure and subtile form in the womb of absolute vacuum (or the mind of God); how is it possible for the material bodies of earth and water to proceed (from the immaterial spirit) without a material cause?
