The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
अहंभावं विना देहस्थितिस्तज्ज्ञाज्ञयोरिह ।
आधेयस्य निराधारा न संस्थेहोपपद्यते ॥ २ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
ahaṃbhāvaṃ vinā dehasthitistajjñājñayoriha |
ādheyasya nirādhārā na saṃsthehopapadyate || 2 ||

Vasishtha replied:—It is impossible, O Rama, for any being whether knowing or unknown to live here without the sense of his egoism; as it is not possible for the contained to subsist without its container.
