Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पाषाणाख्यानमत्रेदं शृणु राम रसायनम् ।
पूर्व मयैव यद्दृष्टं चित्र प्रकृतमेव च ॥ ४ ॥

pāṣāṇākhyānamatredaṃ śṛṇu rāma rasāyanam |
pūrva mayaiva yaddṛṣṭaṃ citra prakṛtameva ca || 4 ||

Attend now, Rama, to my narration of the stone, which be as pleasant to taste, as a remedial of ignorance. In this I will relate what I have seen and actually done myself.
