Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.52.12

नश्यत्येव च दृश्यश्रीः सैव नान्यैव नैव च ।
इत्थं भवेत्समुचितं कृतं शास्त्रं च नान्यथा ॥ १२ ॥

naśyatyeva ca dṛśyaśrīḥ saiva nānyaiva naiva ca |
itthaṃ bhavetsamucitaṃ kṛtaṃ śāstraṃ ca nānyathā || 12 ||

The phenomenals are of course all perishable, but not the other (the spirit), which is neither matter nor destructible, and this is conformable with the doctrines of the sastras, which mean no other.
