223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.51.30

यथास्थितं बोध एव घनतामिव गच्छति ।
विनैव देशकालाभ्यां तौ विनिर्माय हेमवत् ॥ ३० ॥

yathāsthitaṃ bodha eva ghanatāmiva gacchati |
vinaiva deśakālābhyāṃ tau vinirmāya hemavat || 30 ||

The understanding as it is (i.e. being left uncultivated), becomes dull and dense by degrees; as the liquid gold when left to itself, is solidified in a short time.
