The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भूयो जन्मान्तरगतास्त एव चिरजागराः ।
कथ्यन्ते प्रौढिमायाताः कार्यकारणचारिणः ॥ २० ॥

bhūyo janmāntaragatāsta eva cirajāgarāḥ |
kathyante prauḍhimāyātāḥ kāryakāraṇacāriṇaḥ || 20 ||

But being subjected to repeated births, these ever wakeful beings, became subject to alternate sleep and waking, owing to their subjection to reiterated work and repose.
