223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.49.41

सबाह्याभ्यन्तरे चित्ते शान्ते भाति स्वभावता ।
शीतलां व्योमनिर्भासां तामेवाश्रित्य शाम्यताम् ॥ ४१ ॥

sabāhyābhyantare citte śānte bhāti svabhāvatā |
śītalāṃ vyomanirbhāsāṃ tāmevāśritya śāmyatām || 41 ||

The mind being quite at rest from all its internal and external thoughts, the real spiritual nature of the soul then appears to light;and manifest itself in the form of the cool and clear firmament, which must be laid hold upon for one's rest and refuge.
