The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.49.21

चेत्योन्मुखत्वमेवान्तश्चेतनस्यास्य चेतनम् ।
उदितं तदनर्थाय श्रेयसेऽनुदितं भवेत् ॥ २१ ॥

cetyonmukhatvamevāntaścetanasyāsya cetanam |
uditaṃ tadanarthāya śreyase'nuditaṃ bhavet || 21 ||

This entity is Intelligence, which is conversant with all the intelligibles in itself; its manifestation in the form of our senses is fraught with all our woe, while its disappearance leads to our felicity.
