The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कुतोऽप्यचेष्टितेष्वेव संप्राप्तेषु विधेर्वशात् ।
भोगेष्वरतिमायाति पान्थो मरुमहीष्विव ॥ २५ ॥

kuto'pyaceṣṭiteṣveva saṃprāpteṣu vidhervaśāt |
bhogeṣvaratimāyāti pāntho marumahīṣviva || 25 ||

Whenever he happens to meet with some unexpected good, which fortune presents unto him he feels a repugnance to it, as the traveller is loath to trust the mirage in a barren desert.
