The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.43.37

निम्नं विनैव तोयस्य न संभवति काचन ।
अर्थ एव मनस्कारो मन एवार्थरञ्जनम् ॥ ३७ ॥

nimnaṃ vinaiva toyasya na saṃbhavati kācana |
artha eva manaskāro mana evārtharañjanam || 37 ||

As the course of water is always to run downward, and never to rise upward; so the course of the mind is ever toward the objects of sense, and sensible objects are the only delight of the mind.
