The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अनावरणतोऽरण्ये यक्षा विभ्रमरूपिणः ।
यथा स्फुरन्ति भूतानि तथेमानि चतुर्दश ॥ ७ ॥

anāvaraṇato'raṇye yakṣā vibhramarūpiṇaḥ |
yathā sphuranti bhūtāni tathemāni caturdaśa || 7 ||

As the phantoms of Yakshas are seen with their false shapes in the open desert, so we see all these creatures in the fourteen worlds around us.
