223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.42.11

तदनन्तात्म चिद्रूपं चेत्यतामिव भावयत् ।
स्वसंस्थमेव ज्ञेयत्वमज्ञत्वमिव गच्छति ॥ ११ ॥

tadanantātma cidrūpaṃ cetyatāmiva bhāvayat |
svasaṃsthameva jñeyatvamajñatvamiva gacchati || 11 ||

Now people understand this infinite and intellectual spirit, in the sense of an intelligible being; while others suppose him as knowable in themselves, and thus trying to know, become quite ignorant of him.
