The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.39.18

यन्न लब्धं च तन्नास्ति तेन भ्रान्तेरसंभवः ।
स्वभावादुपलम्भोन्यो नास्ति कस्य न कस्यचित् ॥ १८ ॥

yanna labdhaṃ ca tannāsti tena bhrānterasaṃbhavaḥ |
svabhāvādupalambhonyo nāsti kasya na kasyacit || 18 ||

Whatever is not obtained and unattainable is a nullity, and whatsoever is wrongly supposed (as obtainable), is impossible to be had; the thing that is unobtainable by its very nature, is never to be expected, as anything which is otherwise than and contrary to nature.
