The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.39.17

भ्रान्तिस्त्वसन्मात्रमयी प्रेक्षिता चेन्न लभ्यते ।
शुक्तिरूप्यमिवासत्यं किल संप्राप्यते कथम् ॥ १७ ॥

bhrāntistvasanmātramayī prekṣitā cenna labhyate |
śuktirūpyamivāsatyaṃ kila saṃprāpyate katham || 17 ||

Error is the unreal appearance of something, which flies before examination, and vanishes ere it may be laid hold upon. The shell appearing as silver is an unreality, because you cannot get your expected silver from it.
