The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.31.35

कलनारहितं शान्तं यद्रूपं परमात्मनः ।
भवत्यसौ तत्तद्भावादतद्भावान्न तद्भवेत् ॥ ३५ ॥

kalanārahitaṃ śāntaṃ yadrūpaṃ paramātmanaḥ |
bhavatyasau tattadbhāvādatadbhāvānna tadbhavet || 35 ||

He that remains in the manner of the Supreme soul, quite calm and tranquil and free from all fancy and desires, becomes (extinct in) the very soul, by thinking himself as such; but he never becomes so unless he thinks himself to be as so;
