The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

जीवतोऽप्युपशान्तस्य व्यवहारवतोऽपि च ।
शववद्यदवस्थानं तदाहुः परमं पदम् ॥ ४८ ॥

jīvato'pyupaśāntasya vyavahāravato'pi ca |
śavavadyadavasthānaṃ tadāhuḥ paramaṃ padam || 48 ||

When a living soul remains calm and quiet notwithstanding the management of its worldly affairs; and is as motionless as a living carcass, it is said to have attained its perfect state.
