The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.19.31

यदिन्दुमण्डलं नाम स सम्राड् जीव उच्यते ।
शरीरकर्ममनसां बीजं मूलं च कुरणम् ॥ ३१ ॥

yadindumaṇḍalaṃ nāma sa samrāḍ jīva ucyate |
śarīrakarmamanasāṃ bījaṃ mūlaṃ ca kuraṇam || 31 ||

The orb of the moon, is said in the sruti as the lord of life, the cause of the body and thoughts and actions of all living beings.
