The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.7.16

अज्ञानमुत्पत्तिमही नरा विहगकोटयः ।
उपलम्भो बृहत्स्तम्भो दवो निर्वाणनिर्वृतिः ॥ १६ ॥

ajñānamutpattimahī narā vihagakoṭayaḥ |
upalambho bṛhatstambho davo nirvāṇanirvṛtiḥ || 16 ||

Our ignorance is the ground of its growth, and all peoples are as flights of birds hovering upon it; its false apprehension forms its great trunk, which is burnt down by the conflagration of nirvana or our knowledge of the utter extinction of all things.
