The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आत्मंभरीण्यनार्याणि साहसैकरतानि च ।
अन्धकारविहारीणि रक्षांसि स्वेन्द्रियाणि च ॥ ५६ ॥

ātmaṃbharīṇyanāryāṇi sāhasaikaratāni ca |
andhakāravihārīṇi rakṣāṃsi svendriyāṇi ca || 56 ||

All sensualities are as savage Rakshasas or cannibals, that rove and revel about in their venturous excursions in the darkness of night; and glut themselves with human victims.
