The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.6.31

प्राप्तेन येन नो भूयः प्राप्तव्यमवशिष्यते ।
तत्प्राप्तौ यत्नमातिष्ठेत्कष्टयापि हि चेष्टया ॥ ३१ ॥

prāptena yena no bhūyaḥ prāptavyamavaśiṣyate |
tatprāptau yatnamātiṣṭhetkaṣṭayāpi hi ceṣṭayā || 31 ||

I think that to be the best gain, which being once gained by us, there remains nothing else to be desired or gained herein; I must now therefore, remain in quest of that precious gain, however it may be attended with pain.
