The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.5.8

तपसा बहुरूपेण यमेन नियमेन च ।
अक्षीणायुरतिष्ठत्स पुरा कल्पचतुष्टयम् ॥ ८ ॥

tapasā bahurūpeṇa yamena niyamena ca |
akṣīṇāyuratiṣṭhatsa purā kalpacatuṣṭayam || 8 ||

He betook himself to austerities of various kinds, and to the observance of abstinence, self-restraint and vows of various forms; and obtained thereby an undecaying life, which lasted for many ages of four kalpas of four yugas each.
