The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.4.42

प्रवृत्तेन दिनेनार्थः प्रकटीक्रियते यथा ।
असज्जगदहन्त्वेन क्षणान्निर्मीयते तथा ॥ ४२ ॥

pravṛttena dinenārthaḥ prakaṭīkriyate yathā |
asajjagadahantvena kṣaṇānnirmīyate tathā || 42 ||

As the early daylight brings to view the forms and shapes and colours of things; so it is our egoism (which is but another name for ignorance) that presents the false appearance of the world to our visual sight.
