The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.4.31

अहमर्थः पुरो द्रव्यप्रतिबिम्बप्रदश्चिति ।
तच्छान्तौ सा निराभासमनन्तमजमव्ययम् ॥ ३१ ॥

ahamarthaḥ puro dravyapratibimbapradaściti |
tacchāntau sā nirābhāsamanantamajamavyayam || 31 ||

The significance of the word ego, produces the shadow of external objects in the mind;and that being lost, there ensues that serenity and tranquillity of the soul, which are the attributes of the unknowable, infinite and eternal God.
