Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.4.30

अहमर्थः परे वायौ स्पन्दस्तत्प्रशमे तु तत् ।
अनिर्देश्यमनाभासमनन्तमजमव्ययम् ॥ ३० ॥

ahamarthaḥ pare vāyau spandastatpraśame tu tat |
anirdeśyamanābhāsamanantamajamavyayam || 30 ||

The significance of the word, I or ego, is as force or fluctuation in the calm and quiet atmosphere; and this force being still, the soul resumes its serenity, as that of the unseen and imperceptible and one eternal and infinite air.
