The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यस्य स्वान्तर्मनोवृत्तिर्जीयमाना जिताथवा ।
विषयः स विवेकानां स पुमानिति कथ्यते ॥ १६ ॥

yasya svāntarmanovṛttirjīyamānā jitāthavā |
viṣayaḥ sa vivekānāṃ sa pumāniti kathyate || 16 ||

He who has weakened and overcome the inborn feelings of his mind, becomes the receptacle of all virtue and knowledge, and is called a man in its proper sense of the word.
