The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.4.2

न त्यागः कर्मसंत्यागो बोधस्त्याग इति स्मृतः ।
अजगत्प्रतिभैकात्मा योऽनहंतादिरव्ययः ॥ २ ॥

na tyāgaḥ karmasaṃtyāgo bodhastyāga iti smṛtaḥ |
ajagatpratibhaikātmā yo'nahaṃtādiravyayaḥ || 2 ||

It is not the giving up of actions, but the relinquishment of the knowledge of the objective world, that makes our abandonment of it;and the subjective soul, which is without the reflection of the visible world, and the objective-self, is immortal and indestructible.
