The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.3.35

बोधात्मकतया कर्मत्यागः संपद्यते स्वयम् ।
दग्धबीजा निरिच्छोच्चैरक्रियैव भवेत्क्रिया ॥ ३५ ॥

bodhātmakatayā karmatyāgaḥ saṃpadyate svayam |
dagdhabījā niricchoccairakriyaiva bhavetkriyā || 35 ||

It is the rational abandonment of a thing, that makes its true relinquishment, and whatever is done unwilfully, is like a fried grain or seed, that never vegetates nor brings forth its fruit.
