The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ज्ञानं प्रत्यक्षमेवेदं गुरुशिष्यप्रयोजनम् ।
उभावपि यतो योग्यौ सर्वेषामीदृशामपि ॥ ६४ ॥

jñānaṃ pratyakṣamevedaṃ guruśiṣyaprayojanam |
ubhāvapi yato yogyau sarveṣāmīdṛśāmapi || 64 ||

It is evident, that knowledge is in need of both the pupil and preceptor for its communication; where both of them are competent and worthy of one another; it is certain that the result will be so likewise.
