Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.128.18

स्थित्वा तस्मिन्क्षणं योगी लिङ्गमात्रशरीरधृक् ।
वासना भूतसूक्ष्माश्च कर्माविद्ये तथैव च ॥ १८ ॥

sthitvā tasminkṣaṇaṃ yogī liṅgamātraśarīradhṛk |
vāsanā bhūtasūkṣmāśca karmāvidye tathaiva ca || 18 ||

In this manner must the yogi remain for a moment in his spiritual form only, by contraction of his corporeal body (composed of the elemental particles, his desires and prior acts and his primeval ignorance—avidya), under the same.
