The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.128.3

प्राणायामं ततः कुर्यादन्तःकरणशुद्धये ।
इन्द्रियाण्याहरेत्पश्चाद्विषयेभ्यः शनैःशनैः ॥ ३ ॥

prāṇāyāmaṃ tataḥ kuryādantaḥkaraṇaśuddhaye |
indriyāṇyāharetpaścādviṣayebhyaḥ śanaiḥśanaiḥ || 3 ||

He must then restrain his respiration, for the purification of his inner organs (the heart and mind); and then restrict his senses by degrees, from their respective outward objects.
