The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

दृष्टा रम्यमरम्यं वा स्थेयं पाषाणवत्समम् ।
एतावतात्मयत्नेन जिता भवति संसृतिः ॥ ८ ॥

dṛṣṭā ramyamaramyaṃ vā stheyaṃ pāṣāṇavatsamam |
etāvatātmayatnena jitā bhavati saṃsṛtiḥ || 8 ||

Remain as cold as a stone, at the sight of anything, which is either delightsome or disgusting to thee; and by this means learn to subdue everything in the world under thy control.
