The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

आनन्दैकघनीभावात्सुषुप्ताख्या तु पञ्चमी ।
असंवेदनरूपाथ षष्ठी तुर्यपदाभिधा ॥ ८ ॥

ānandaikaghanībhāvātsuṣuptākhyā tu pañcamī |
asaṃvedanarūpātha ṣaṣṭhī turyapadābhidhā || 8 ||

The fifth stage is the stage of sound sleep, in which the soul is drowned in deep felicity; and the unconsciousness of one's self in the sixth stage, is also called his turya or fourth state:
