The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.114.1

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
परस्माद्ब्रह्मणः पूर्वं मनः प्रथममुत्थितम् ।
मननात्मकमाभोगि तत्स्थमेव स्थितिं गतम् ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
parasmādbrahmaṇaḥ pūrvaṃ manaḥ prathamamutthitam |
mananātmakamābhogi tatsthameva sthitiṃ gatam || 1 ||

Vasishtha said:—The mind sprang at first from the supreme spirit of Brahma, and being possest of its power of thinking, it was situated in the Divine soul, and was styled as the Divine mind or intellect.
