The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.98.17

वास्यस्य जगतोऽभावाद्यतो नास्त्येव वासना ।
अतस्तदात्मकं चित्तं कीदृशं क्व कुतः कथम् ॥ १७ ॥

vāsyasya jagato'bhāvādyato nāstyeva vāsanā |
atastadātmakaṃ cittaṃ kīdṛśaṃ kva kutaḥ katham || 17 ||

As the absence of the desirable world, removes our desire of it; so the privation of our desire, displaces the mind which is the seat of our wishes.
