The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पदार्थानां च कार्याणां कारणं बीजमुच्यते ।
संभवत्यङ्ग जगति न बीजेन विनाङ्कुरः ॥ ६२ ॥

padārthānāṃ ca kāryāṇāṃ kāraṇaṃ bījamucyate |
saṃbhavatyaṅga jagati na bījena vināṅkuraḥ || 62 ||

The causes of all things and effects are called as their seeds, and when there is no seed in existence, it is impossible for a germ to be produced in the earth from nothing.
