The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कुम्भ उवाच ।
कारणाभावतो राजन्पिता नाम न विद्यते ।
असतो यत्तु संजातमसदेव तदुच्यते ॥ ६१ ॥

kumbha uvāca |
kāraṇābhāvato rājanpitā nāma na vidyate |
asato yattu saṃjātamasadeva taducyate || 61 ||

Kumbha replied:—The father can be nothing and no cause, without his having another cause for himself; because whatever is without a cause is nothing in itself.
