The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

शिखिध्वज उवाच ।
चेत्यचेतनरूपस्य वेद्यसंवेदनाकृतेः ।
इयं पदार्थसत्तेह देहादि कारणं मुने ॥ ४८ ॥

śikhidhvaja uvāca |
cetyacetanarūpasya vedyasaṃvedanākṛteḥ |
iyaṃ padārthasatteha dehādi kāraṇaṃ mune || 48 ||

Sikhidvaja answered said:—I think, O sage, that the sensible objects of the body &c., are the causes of the thinking and thinkable (thoughts), and of knowing and the knowables or knowledge.
