The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.94.27

चित्तवृक्षस्य तेन त्वं मूलकाषपरो भव ।
मुख्यत्वेन महाबुद्धे मूलदाहमलं कुरु ॥ २७ ॥

cittavṛkṣasya tena tvaṃ mūlakāṣaparo bhava |
mukhyatvena mahābuddhe mūladāhamalaṃ kuru || 27 ||

You may also burn it as the first step, instead of lopping the branches; and thus the great trunk of the tree of mind being reduced to ashes, there remains an entire mindlessness at last.
