The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

शिखिध्वज उवाच ।
चित्तत्यागादहं मन्ये चित्तनाशः सुसिद्धये ।
अभावः शतशो व्याधेः कथमस्यानुभूयते ॥ १२ ॥

śikhidhvaja uvāca |
cittatyāgādahaṃ manye cittanāśaḥ susiddhaye |
abhāvaḥ śataśo vyādheḥ kathamasyānubhūyate || 12 ||

Sikhidvaja rejoined:—I think the extinction of the mind, is better than our abandonment of it, on account of securing the success of our purposes; but how can we know the gradual expurgation of the mind, from the hundreds of diseases to which it is subject.
