The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

शिखिध्वज उवाच ।
केनायं चाल्यते देहः किं बीजं जन्मकर्मणाम् ।
कस्मिंस्त्यक्ते परित्यक्तं सर्वं भवति सुन्दर ॥ २८ ॥

śikhidhvaja uvāca |
kenāyaṃ cālyate dehaḥ kiṃ bījaṃ janmakarmaṇām |
kasmiṃstyakte parityaktaṃ sarvaṃ bhavati sundara || 28 ||

Sikhidvaja rejoined:—What is it then that agitates the body and what is the root of our transmigrations and of the doings and sufferings of our future lives? And what is it by the avoidance of which, we avoid and forsake everything in the world?
