The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.90.17

संकल्पग्रहणेनान्तस्त्यागः प्रोड्डीय ते गतः ।
शब्दसंश्रवणेनाङ्ग यथा ग्रामविहंगमः ॥ १७ ॥

saṃkalpagrahaṇenāntastyāgaḥ proḍḍīya te gataḥ |
śabdasaṃśravaṇenāṅga yathā grāmavihaṃgamaḥ || 17 ||

Resignation flies on its swift pinions, soon as it sees a desire to be entertained in it; as a bird puts on its wings, no sooner it hears a noise below.
