The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यथा स्तब्धः स्थितो वीचिरिव स्थलमिवास्थितः ।
पञ्चकेषु तथैतच्चिल्लोलरूपा जडान्विता ॥ ६१ ॥

yathā stabdhaḥ sthito vīciriva sthalamivāsthitaḥ |
pañcakeṣu tathaitaccillolarūpā jaḍānvitā || 61 ||

As the wave of the sea is seen to roll in one place, and to be dull and at a lull in another; so is this intellectual power in full force in some bodies, and quite quiescent in others.
