The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.80.20

आत्मभूतं प्रयत्नेन उपादेयं च साध्यते ।
हेयं संत्यज्यते ज्ञात्वा उपेक्ष्यं मध्यमेतयोः ॥ २० ॥

ātmabhūtaṃ prayatnena upādeyaṃ ca sādhyate |
heyaṃ saṃtyajyate jñātvā upekṣyaṃ madhyametayoḥ || 20 ||

The first or attainment of the desirable upadeya, is secured by employing the means for its success, the second heya or detestation hates and slights the thing altogether; and the third or indifference is the intermediate way between the two.
