The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

भोगाभोगे परित्यज्य खे शून्ये रमते तु यः ।
एक एवाखिलं त्यक्त्वा स कथं किल शोभते ॥ ५ ॥

bhogābhoge parityajya khe śūnye ramate tu yaḥ |
eka evākhilaṃ tyaktvā sa kathaṃ kila śobhate || 5 ||

He who abstains from pleasures and enjoyments, and subsists upon empty air, is as a ghost devoid of a material form and figure, and lives a bodiless shadow in the sky.
