The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

जीवो जीवति जीर्णेन चिद्रूपेणात्मरूपिणा ।
चेत्यभ्रमवता जीवश्चिद्रूपेणैव जीवति ॥ २५ ॥

jīvo jīvati jīrṇena cidrūpeṇātmarūpiṇā |
cetyabhramavatā jīvaścidrūpeṇaiva jīvati || 25 ||

The living soul lives in its form of vitality, by the primordial power of the intellect, the vital soul which is misunderstood as an intelligent principle, subsists by means of this intellectual power.
