The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.74.33

त्रितल उवाच ।
पौरुषेण प्रयत्नेन त्यक्त्वा भोगौघभावनाम् ।
गत्वा विकसितां सत्तामहंकारो विलीयते ॥ ३३ ॥

tritala uvāca |
pauruṣeṇa prayatnena tyaktvā bhogaughabhāvanām |
gatvā vikasitāṃ sattāmahaṃkāro vilīyate || 33 ||

Tritala replied:—All egoistic feelings subside of themselves under the abandonment of worldly desires, which is to be done by the very great efforts of fortitude, in our exercise of the virtues of self-abnegation and self-command, and by the expansion of our souls to universal benevolence.
