The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

चेतो हि वासनामात्रं तदभावे परं पदम् ।
तत्त्वं संपद्यते ज्ञानं ज्ञानमाहुर्विचारणम् ॥ ३८ ॥

ceto hi vāsanāmātraṃ tadabhāve paraṃ padam |
tattvaṃ saṃpadyate jñānaṃ jñānamāhurvicāraṇam || 38 ||

The mind is another name for desire, and this extirpated and wanting, the soul comes to the discrimination of truth, which leads to the knowledge of the supreme.
